About me
I’m Lala Maria—an independent R&B artist, audio engineer, sound designer, and multifaceted creator based in Chicago, Illinois. My artistry is rooted in soulful storytelling, smooth vibrant melodies, and intentional production that connects deeply with listeners.
My journey began at age three and grew through performances with my childhood group Kings Kids, and later with the Englewood High School Choir—including a special performance at the White House in 2000. I continued building my craft through theater, starring in Mama I Want to Sing (Off-Broadway, 2003) and multiple productions with the Mahdi Theatre Company before fully stepping into my music career.
In 2018, I signed with Streetligion LLC and released my debut album It’s A Love Story, followed by Emotionally Driven in 2020—both achieving platinum status. Today, I serve as the COO of Streetligion Production LLC, co-producing projects, developing emerging talent, and expanding my work in media and entertainment.
I hold a BA in Audio Engineering and have produced, co-produced, mixed, and designed sound for albums, live shows, and podcasts. My influences include Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, India Arie, Toni Braxton, Left Eye, and Da Brat—artists who shaped my commitment to meaningful lyrics and emotional truth in music.
My mission is simple: To restore storytelling in R&B and create music that inspires resilience, self-expression, and hope.
